Work

Work has always shaped life here. Generations have been guides, caretakers, hunters, loggers, lumber mill workers, builders, merchants, teachers, medical professionals, environmental advocates, farmers, trappers, hospitality workers, entrepreneurs, and more. In Au Sable Forks, The J & J Rogers Company helped shape the town in deep and lasting ways. The mills influenced daily routines, friendships, local businesses, and the rhythm of life. The sights and sounds of industry became part of the town’s identity. These stories help us understand not just jobs, but pride, resilience, and a way of life that shaped generations.
